We believe in arts for all and strive to break down barriers to how art is experienced and accessed. This is why access to HeartWood will always be free, and it is our goal to create a place where everybody will feel welcome and included.

‘Art is the space between us and what connects us all…’

To make this possible, we need your tautoko (support). With your donation, you are contributing towards the preparation of the soil on site, the acquisition of native tree seedlings and the building of an accessible pathway from the entry of Silvan Forest to the HeartWood site. It truly takes a village to make a place for all - please donate today to help HeartWood grow.

3. Partner with us:

We are seeking investment partners to realise foundational steps in the establishment of the first HeartWood - a living sculpture in the shape of a microforest, a place for contemplation, creativity and healing. The inaugural HeartWood will be established at Silvan Forest, Richmond, Te Tai-o-Aorere in Te Tauihu in Te Waipounamu, the South Island of Aotearoa.

Created as an artwork and through hands-on community engagement, HeartWood offers a creative place, hauora (wellbeing) - focused placemaking, and a positive call to action against the climate crisis. Our investment partners have the unique opportunity to be part of a community-led placemaking and art project that offers both concrete wellbeing and sustainability outcomes.

Situated within Silvan Forest, HeartWood will be an inclusive place that is accessible to all. Silvan Forest is a public mountain biking park and reforestation project, owned and operated by the Charis Foundation Trust. Entry to the park is free - HeartWood will grow within this privately owned, publicly accessible environment and offer a place of contemplation and creative engagement.
